From an industry perspective, Parity Research has a particular interest in how technology solutions and services are being adopted for financial services, healthcare, insurance, legal and power utility organizations with an eye towards understanding which strategies work best to meet business requirements and objectives throughout the content management lifecycle.

Gary’s View

The best Information Management (IM) implementation strategies transcend approaches that lead primarily with technology. Managing information is a multi-dimensional task that needs to balance culture, policy, compliance, business process and technology in order to achieve higher levels of efficiency, governance and organizational insight.

All too often organizations deploy a series of point solutions across the enterprise leaving them prey to short term or marginal vendor and supplier remedies rather than driving their own Strategic Information Management (SIM) agenda forward. Long term this finger-in-the-dike method can result in many unintended consequences including increased risk associated with managing information, higher costs and reduced worker productivity.

Effectively managing unstructured content and data is one of the great challenges organizations face today and no one vendor or solution meets all the criteria necessary to support a comprehensive approach to meeting that challenge. Therefore, organizations need to be adept at selecting solutions that meet specific needs but also interoperate well with existing infrastructure and workflows – a delicate balancing act.
